Ecoliving Sponsors Building Excellence Awards
Shropshire's best building schemes were named at a special
awards ceremony held on 16 March 2011, which was sponsored by Ecoliving.
Over 100 people attended the Building Excellence Awards, held at
Shirehall in Shrewsbury, which was organised by the building
control teams of Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin
The awards recognised the best building schemes completed across
the two council areas in 2010, in both the residential and
Jonathan Guppy presented the award for the Best Innovative /
Most Sustainable Building, won by local firm S P McNally for new
offices and a community centre constructed on behalf of Severn
Gorge Countryside Trust. This project was also the overall winner
of the Building Excellence Awards.
The winners of the Shropshire awards will now go forward to
represent Shropshire in the West Midlands regional final of the
LABC (Local Authority Building Control) building excellence awards
in Spring 2011.
The regional winners will then represent the West Midlands at
the LABC national awards in London in late 2011, where they will be
up against winners from 11 other UK regions.
Councillor Mal Price, Shropshire Council's Cabinet Member for
Planning and Housing, said: "These awards recognise some of the
many excellent building schemes that were completed across the
county last year. I congratulate all of our winners and wish them
well in the regional final."
