Ecoliving were contacted by the owners of a large property in the picturesque town of Malvern, Worcestershire.
They wanted to use their south facing double garage roof to capture some free energy and take advantage of the Feed in Tariffs which pay a fee to all owners of solar PV panels.
The installation was complicated by the fact that the garage is detached from the main house. To make more use of the cables which would have to be laid to the house Ecoliving’s installers also fitted internal and external lights as well as some 13 amp sockets to the garage, killing two birds with one stone. The necessary inverters, isolators and meter were also housed within the garage to make a tidy installation with internal disruption kept to a minimum.
The owners now have a large bank of solar panels generating 3.42kWatts peak, thus benefitting from the Feed in Tariffs as well free electricity when the sun shines (exporting any surplus to the grid) and now they have light and power in the garage which makes their use so much more versatile.
