Latest ground source heat pump technology for award winning Dumfries & Galloway holiday home.
With spectacular views out to the Solway Firth, this stunning holiday home in Portling, Dumfries & Galloway, was designed by local Castle Douglas architect, Simon Winstanley and built by local construction firm, 3b Construction.
The primary heat source is a NIBE ground source heat pump which collects heat energy from the rock underneath the site via a 150m deep borehole and having upgraded the heat delivers it to the house via under floor heating. The ground source heat pump means that the heating bill is around a third what it would otherwise have been with an oil boiler.
A wood-burning stove provides an attractive focal point and a secondary heat source for the winter evenings and weekends.
The property received a design commendation in the category Saltire Society Housing Design Award, from the Glasgow Institute of Architects, Chartered Institute of Building Commendation.
