RHI Eligible Pellets Boiler for Perthshire Home
Pellets replaces Oil Boiler
A Perthshire family looking to reduce their heating costs by replacing their oil boiler contacted Ecoliving to explore renewable heating alternatives. With a large, older house and, therefore, a fairly high heat demand the most appropriate solution was a pellets boiler.
Ecoliving conducted an on-site survey to determine the heat loss and discuss the potential locations of the boiler and pellets store. A full heat loss calculation was then produced showing the anticipated annual running cost which, in this case, represented a fuel saving compared to oil.
ETA Pellets Boiler & 6 Tonne External Store
With a heat load just short of 20kW, an Austrian built ETA pellets boiler was specified with an output of 20kW, fed by a 6 tonne pellet store located outside through the wall from the boiler.
Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive
This installation is eligible for the domestic RHI. The RHI amount, paid per year, is based on the heating and hot water consumption figure (kWh) from the EPC which is part of the Green Deal Assessment. Payments are made for 7 years.
Total energy required for heating and hot water: 38,751kWh/year
Cost of complete boiler installation: £23,965
Biomass Renewable Heat Incentive rate: 12.2p/kWh
